A post-purchase offer is a single “One more thing” step between a paid checkout and the thank-you page. It offers another of your products, at a discount if you like. The buyer adds it with one click, charged to the card they just used, or says No thanks and goes straight to their receipt.
Post-purchase offers are part of the Growth plan and above.
1

Choose what to offer

In the product editor, open the Checkout step and find After purchase. Switch on Offer another product after purchase, pick the product and, optionally, a discount (0-90%).
2

A buyer pays

Right after payment, the checkout shows the step once: your product, its price (with the original crossed out when discounted) and the card that will be charged, e.g. “your Visa ending in 4242”.
3

One click

Add to my order charges the saved card. The add-on is a normal order: it appears in Orders, the buyer gets its receipt by email, and it is delivered on the thank-you page with the first product.

What can be offered

The offered product must be another one-time product of yours, in the same mode (live or test) as the product being bought, with a fixed price of at least 1.00 after the discount. Pay-what-you-want products, credit packs, pre-orders and waitlists can’t be offered. The step is skipped when:
  • the buyer already owns the offered product,
  • more than 30 minutes passed since the purchase,
  • the purchase was a subscription, a gift or a free order,
  • your plan no longer includes post-purchase offers (your setting is kept and comes back when you upgrade).

Good to know

  • Shown once. The buyer decides once per purchase. Reloading the page or clicking twice can never charge twice: every charge carries an idempotency key.
  • Honest outcomes. If the card is declined, the buyer is told they were not charged and continues to their receipt. If the payment is still being confirmed, they are told the receipt arrives by email if it goes through.
  • Fees. The add-on carries your plan’s platform fee, like any other order (see Fees).
  • The thank-you page never shows an offer of its own. The offer belongs to the checkout; the thank-you page only delivers what was bought.
  • Embedded checkouts (the buy button or popup on another website) end on your own site and skip the step.

For developers

Read or set the offer with your API key (GET / PUT /post-purchase/products/{id}, or the get_post_purchase_offer / update_post_purchase_offer MCP tools). An accepted offer sends order.completed for the new order and order.post_purchase_accepted linking it to the purchase it followed. See Post-purchase offers & social proof API.
