A payment plan shows “3 payments of $99” next to the full price on your checkout. The buyer picks one; nothing changes for buyers who pay in full.
Payment plans are part of the Growth plan and above.
1

Turn it on

In the product editor, open the Checkout step and switch on Offer a payment plan. The product needs a fixed price (pay what you want products can’t be split).
2

Choose the split

Pick 2 to 6 payments (3 by default). You can add an optional payment plan fee of up to 25% on the whole price. The editor shows what buyers will see, for example 3 payments of $33.34.

Sell

The checkout offers Pay in full or N payments. The order summary shows what is due today and what follows.

How it works

  • Access on the first payment. The buyer gets the product, receipt, license key and course access exactly as with a one-time purchase, as soon as the first payment succeeds.
  • Every payment is an order. Each payment is recorded as its own order with installment: { index, of } (for example { "index": 2, "of": 3 }). Payments 2 and later record the money only; nothing is delivered again.
  • Rounding. Each payment is rounded up to the cent, so you never receive less than the price: 100in3paymentsis3×100 in 3 payments is 3 × 33.34.
  • It ends by itself. After the last payment the plan stops. Nothing is charged afterwards.
  • Failed payments. If a later payment fails, the card is retried automatically and the buyer keeps access. You get an email and a push notification, and the installment.failed webhook fires.
  • Refunds. Refund any payment from its order, like any other order.
  • Fees. The platform fee applies to each payment, as it would to a single payment of the same amount.
  • Not combined with add-ons. A buyer who adds an order bump pays in full; the plan option says so.

Webhooks

Payment 1 also fires the usual order.completed. See webhook events.
