Limited drops are part of the Starter plan and above.
Turn it on
In the product editor, open the Product step and find Limited drop. Switch on Sell a limited number of copies and enter how many copies are for sale. Optionally switch on Put refunded copies back on sale. What buyers see
- Under the buy button: 37 of 100 left, with a thin bar that empties as copies sell. It updates every few seconds.
- When every copy is sold, the button reads Sold out and can’t be clicked. A buyer who reaches the checkout anyway sees “Sold out. Every copy of this product has been sold.”
- When the last copies are in other buyers’ checkouts, buyers are told to check back in a few minutes.
How the count works
- A buyer who opens the checkout holds one copy for 15 minutes while they pay, so nobody pays for a copy that isn’t there. Reloading the checkout never takes a second copy.
- When the payment goes through, the copy is sold. A declined card keeps the copy 5 more minutes, then it goes back on sale. So does a checkout that is left open.
- Two buyers can never get the last copy: the copy is taken in one step that only succeeds while a copy is free.
- A buyer who already paid always gets their purchase.
- Free products count too: each claim takes a copy.
- Refunds put the copy back on sale only if you switched that on.
Change it later
- Raise the quantity to reopen sales after a sell-out.
- Turn the drop off to sell without a limit again. The counts are kept if you turn it back on.
- If your plan no longer includes limited drops, the counter disappears and the limit stops applying (your sales are never blocked). Your settings are kept.
For developers
Read or change the drop with your API key (GET / PATCH /products/{id}/limited-drop) and show the live counter on your own site
from the public GET /products/{id}/drop. See
Limited drops, PDF stamping & download limits.
