Social proof shows buyers that real people buy your product. Every number is real: it comes from your paid orders and your product’s reviews. Nothing is estimated, rounded up or made up.
Checkout social proof is part of the Growth plan and above.

What buyers can see

Purchase count

“14 people bought this in the last 24 hours” (or “in the last 7 days”), under the price. Hidden until it reaches your minimum.

Recent purchase notice

“Someone in Lyon bought this · 2h ago”, once per visit, for a few seconds. City or country only.

Review stars

The average rating and the number of reviews, from your product’s real reviews.

Turn it on

In the product editor, open the Checkout step and find Social proof. Switch on Show social proof at checkout, then choose:
  • Purchase count: the window (last 24 hours or last 7 days) and the minimum (default 3). Below the minimum the checkout shows nothing, never a smaller number.
  • Recent purchase notice: on or off.
  • Review stars: on or off.

What counts

  • Only paid, live orders of this product. Test-mode orders and refunded orders never count.
  • The recent-purchase notice shows a city only when the payment recorded one, otherwise the country. It never shows a name, an email or an amount, and it is held back below your minimum too, so a single sale can’t point at one buyer.
  • Stars average your product’s live reviews.
  • Numbers refresh about once a minute.
If your plan no longer includes social proof, the checkout stops showing it and your settings are kept.

For developers

Read or change the settings with your API key (GET / PUT /social-proof/products/{id}/settings), and read the same aggregate numbers the checkout shows from the public GET /social-proof/products/{id}. See Post-purchase offers & social proof API.
