# Text reviews & social proof

> Collect and display text reviews to build trust and increase conversions on Pocketsflow.

Social proof is one of the strongest levers you have to increase conversions.
This guide covers how to collect, manage, and display text reviews across your
Pocketsflow product and subscription pages — and how reviews reinforce trust right
at checkout.

## Why reviews matter

Strong reviews:

* **Reduce perceived risk** for a first-time buyer who's never bought from you.
* **Answer silent objections** — "Will this work for someone like me?"
* **Describe outcomes in the buyer's own words**, which is more persuasive than
  your own copy.
* Provide the raw material for a **checkout testimonial** — the flat, credible
  reassurance shown at the moment of payment.

<Note>
  Reviews are one of the three social-proof signals Pocketsflow surfaces: **text
  reviews**, a **live sales count**, and the **checkout testimonial** (your top
  review shown on the payment panel). Toggle reviews and the sales count per product
  or subscription.
</Note>

## Where reviews appear

* **On the product/subscription page** — as a reviews section, when you enable
  "show reviews" for that item.
* **On the checkout** — the product's top review can render on the checkout panel
  as a testimonial when the checkout template's testimonial block is on (see
  [Checkout page](/selling/checkout-page)).

Because both surfaces read from the same reviews, one good review does double duty.

## Collecting reviews

Typical ways to collect reviews:

* **Post-purchase emails** asking for a quick line of feedback.
* **A link on the thank-you page** pointing to a review form.
* **Direct prompts** in your community or newsletter.

When you ask, be specific — vague prompts get vague reviews:

* "What problem did this solve for you?"
* "What was your favorite part, or the most valuable outcome?"
* "Who would you recommend this to?"

<Tip>
  The best time to ask is right after the buyer gets a win — just after they've used
  the template, finished the first module, or joined the community. Bake the ask into
  your onboarding email sequence so it happens automatically.
</Tip>

## Adding reviews to your pages

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the product or subscription">
    Go to the item where you want reviews to appear.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the reviews / social-proof section">
    Find the reviews controls in the page/design settings.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add each review">
    For each one, add:

    * The **reviewer name** (or initials if anonymized).
    * An optional **role or context** — "Course creator," "Designer," "Founder."
    * A short, **outcome-focused quote**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enable and preview">
    Turn "show reviews" on and preview the page to check formatting on desktop and
    mobile.
  </Step>
</Steps>

You can also bring in quotes from social platforms (for example, posts on X) as
long as you respect their terms and your own privacy policy.

## Best practices

* **Lead with your strongest, most specific review** — one that names a concrete
  outcome beats five generic "great product!" lines.
* **3–6 reviews is usually enough.** More can clutter the page and dilute impact.
* **Keep them current** — refresh reviews as your product evolves so they reflect
  the version people are buying now.
* **Mix contexts** if your buyers vary — a designer and a founder saying it worked
  helps different visitors see themselves.
* **Pair reviews with the sales count** for compounding proof ("2,300 sold" plus
  three great quotes).

## Handling negative feedback

Not every piece of feedback will be glowing. Use it to:

* Improve your product, onboarding, or delivery.
* Sharpen your marketing so you attract better-fit buyers.

You don't have to publish every review, but take all feedback seriously — patterns
in criticism are your cheapest product research.
