# Sales funnels

> Turn a free product into paying customers: a lead magnet, an email sequence and a paid offer, set up from one template.

A sales funnel gives something away for free, follows up by email, and then
offers a paid product. Pocketsflow sets the whole thing up from one template,
using pieces you already have: a free product, your emails and automations,
and a discount code if you want one.

Sales funnels are part of the **Growth** plan and above.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Pick the lead magnet">
    Choose one of your free products: a $0 price, or pay what you want from
            $0. Getting it is how people enter the funnel.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick a sequence">
    Choose one of three templates. Pocketsflow writes the emails and creates
    a real automation with them, which you can edit like any other.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick the paid offer">
    Choose the product to sell. Its link goes into the offer emails. Add an
    optional discount code (with an end date if you like) and it is applied
    on the link and named in the emails.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review and activate">
    Check the emails, edit them if you want, and activate. Your sender email
    must be verified first.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## The three sequences

| Template | Emails | Timing | Where the offer appears |
| - | - | - | - |
| **Welcome → value → offer** | 5 | Day 0, 1, 3, 5 and 7 | The last two emails |
| **Mini-course** | 4 | One lesson a day | A P.S. in lesson 3, then lesson 4 |
| **Launch** | 3 | 0, 24 and 72 hours | Every email |

Every email is a normal email post (under **Emails**, marked as an
automation email) and the sequence is a normal automation (under
**Automations**). Open **Edit emails** on the funnel to change the copy, the
timing or the order in the automation builder.

## What happens when someone gets the lead magnet

* They join your audience, tagged with the funnel's lead tag (for example
  `lead-free-notion-starter`). Someone who unsubscribed before is never
  resubscribed: they count as a lead, but get no emails.
* They start the sequence once. Getting the free product again never
  restarts it.
* The `funnel.lead` [webhook](/api-webhooks/events) fires.

## Analytics

Each funnel has its own analytics page, built from real data only:

* **Leads**: people who got the lead magnet.
* **Emails sent, opened and clicked**: per email, counting people once.
* **Purchases and revenue**: sales of the offer where the buyer's email got
  the lead magnet first and bought within **30 days**. Refunded sales never
  count. Revenue is in your account currency.
* **Conversion**: leads who bought the offer, divided by leads.

## Pausing, plans and deleting

* **Pause** switches the sequence off: new claims of the lead magnet no
  longer enter the funnel. Leads already in the sequence receive the emails
  they were scheduled for, like any automation. The free product itself
  stays on sale.
* If your plan no longer includes funnels, your funnels stay visible and you
  can pause or delete them, but new claims no longer enter them. Your free
  product keeps working either way.
* **Delete** removes the funnel, its leads and its automation. Its emails and
  its discount code are kept, because leads may already hold an email with
  that code.

## Use it from the API or an AI agent

Every step is available in the [public API](/api-reference/sales-funnels) and
as MCP tools (`list_funnels`, `create_funnel`, `get_funnel_stats`,
`activate_funnel`, …).
