# PDF stamping

> Stamp every downloaded PDF with the buyer's email, order number and date, so a shared ebook says whose it is.

PDF stamping puts the buyer's email on every page of the PDFs they download
from you. A shared copy of your ebook or guide says whose it is, which is
usually enough to stop it being passed around.

<Note>
  PDF stamping is part of the **Starter** plan and above.
</Note>

## Turn it on

In the product editor, open the **Product** step and find **Delivery
protection**. Switch on **Stamp PDFs with the buyer's email**.

## What the stamp looks like

A small grey line at the bottom of every page, away from your content:

```text theme={"system"}
Licensed to ada@example.com  ·  Order 12CD56EF  ·  Oct 16, 2026
```

The same line is written into the file's properties. A gift is stamped with
the recipient's email.

## Good to know

* Each buyer's copy is stamped once, when they first download it, and kept
  ready for their next downloads.
* Only PDFs are stamped. Zip files, videos, images and links are delivered
  exactly as before.
* A PDF that can't be stamped (password-protected or damaged) is delivered
  as is. Your buyer always gets their file.
* Stamping works on every PDF of the product: a single file, each file of a
  bundle and each variant's file.
* If your plan no longer includes stamping, buyers get the original files
  again. Your setting is kept.

## For developers

`GET` / `PATCH /products/{id}/pdf-stamping` with `{ "enabled": true }`. See
[Limited drops, PDF stamping & download limits](/api-reference/delivery-protection).
